Bedtime Stories for Kids Kiddo

Effective date: October 1, 2026
Last updated: October 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Nisha Patel (“we”, “us” or “our”), the developer of the iOS application Bedtime Stories for Kids Kiddo (the “App” or “Kiddo”), collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the App, including its widgets and notifications. Kiddo is designed for children to enjoy with their parents or guardians, so protecting children's privacy is very important to us.

In short: Kiddo does not require an account, does not show advertisements, does not track users across other companies' apps or websites, and does not sell personal information. Some features (such as the Personalized StoryBook) use a child's photo and name only when a parent chooses to provide them, and those photos are deleted after the StoryBook is created.

1. Children's Privacy

Kiddo offers stories, audio, videos, learning activities, worksheets, quizzes and puzzles for young children. We aim to comply with applicable children's privacy laws, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as it applies to children, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

  • We do not ask children to create accounts or to provide contact details.
  • Features that involve a child's name or photo (such as the Personalized StoryBook, quiz certificates and the kid profile) are intended to be set up by a parent or guardian. By providing this information, the parent or guardian consents to its use as described in this policy.
  • Purchases, external links, sharing, feedback and contacting support are protected by a parental gate (a simple math question) intended to be completed by an adult.
  • We do not knowingly collect a child's personal information beyond what is described in this policy. If you believe we have collected information from a child without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and app identifiers: an app-specific device identifier (Apple's “identifier for vendor”, stored securely in the device Keychain), a randomly assigned numeric User ID created by our server, the push notification token, app version, operating system type and install source/referral information.
  • Usage information: stories started and completed and playback position, favorites, Shorts videos watched (and for how long), likes, worksheets opened or saved, StoryBooks created, quiz progress and coin balance and usage.
  • Analytics information: collected automatically by Google Firebase Analytics, such as app opens, session duration, approximate country/region derived from IP address, device model, OS version and app version (see Section 5).

We do not collect the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), precise location, contacts, camera or microphone data.

2.3 Information stored only on your device

Some information never leaves your device unless you choose to share it, including the kid profile name and avatar, certificate photos, app settings (theme, sleep timer, reminder time), downloaded or cached content and widget data. Deleting the App removes this information.

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide the App's features: streaming stories, audio and videos, saving progress and favorites, and syncing coins and purchases.
  • To show content appropriate for the child's age and selected language.
  • To create Personalized StoryBooks and quiz certificates.
  • To verify and restore subscriptions and coin purchases.
  • To send reminders and notifications about new stories (which you can turn off).
  • To understand how the App is used in aggregate, fix problems and improve content.
  • To respond to feedback, content reports and support requests.
  • To keep the App secure and prevent fraud or misuse, and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not use children's information for advertising or for building advertising profiles.

4. Personalized StoryBook Photos

The Personalized StoryBook lets a parent place their child's face into illustrated story pages.

  • Photos are selected by the parent from the device photo library using Apple's photo picker. The App only receives the photos you select.
  • Before upload, the App checks on the device that a face is present. No facial recognition or biometric identification is performed, and no biometric templates are created or stored.
  • Selected photos, the child's first name, age and chosen template are uploaded over an encrypted connection to our servers solely to generate the StoryBook.
  • Uploaded photos are deleted from our servers once the StoryBook has been generated, and in any case within 30 days of upload. The finished StoryBook remains available to you in the App.
  • Photos are never used for advertising, never sold, never used to train artificial intelligence models, and never shared with third parties other than our hosting provider.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted service providers. Each processes data only to provide its service to us.

  • We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for behavioral advertising.

7. In-App Purchases

Kiddo offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly and yearly) and consumable coin packs. All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. When you make a purchase, we receive and store limited information needed to activate your purchase: the product/plan purchased, price, transaction identifier, subscription status and expiry date, linked to your Kiddo User ID. We do not receive your name, Apple ID email or payment details.

8. Notifications

  • Push notifications (via Apple and OneSignal) let us tell you about new stories and updates.
  • Local reminders (such as a daily story-time reminder at a time you choose) are scheduled on your device and do not send data to us.

You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings > Notifications > Kiddo.

9. Device Permissions

  • Firebase Analytics data: retained according to our Google Analytics data retention settings (no longer than 14 months).
  • On-device data: kept until you delete it or uninstall the App.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for data transfers, secure storage of identifiers in the iOS Keychain and limited access to server data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address any issue.

12. International Data Transfers

We are based in India. Our servers and service providers (such as Google and OneSignal) may process information in India, the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

13. Your Rights and Parental Choices

Depending on where you live, you (or the parent or guardian of a child) may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you or your child;
  • correct or delete that information;
  • withdraw consent and stop further collection (for example, by not using the StoryBook feature, turning off notifications or deleting the App);
  • object to or restrict certain processing, or request a copy of your data;
  • lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To make a request, email us at darkblueapps@gmail.com. If possible, contact us through the App's WhatsApp support option, which automatically includes your Kiddo User ID so we can locate your data. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify that you are the parent or guardian before acting on a request.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where the changes are significant, notify you in the App. If we make a material change to how we collect children's information, we will seek parental consent where required by law.
